This outfit is one of my favorites right now because it's so summery. The belt has to be an all-time favorite. I found it for $10 at a vintage shop, and it was a littly dingy and yellow, but I put it in an oxiclean bath and it brightened right up. Unfortunately, the colors also bled a little because I put it in too warm of water.  Live and learn!

The headband is made from some ribbon I found at anthropologie around Christmas time, which I have been saving for special crafts.  All the flowers are vintage millinery I found on etsy.  I'm hoping to sell some vintage inspired millinery hair pieces like this one in my etsy shop in the future!

Not too much has been going on around these parts.  I'm already looking forward to fall, and in anticipation, I bought an awesome rust colored dress last weekend.  It's definitely gonna be a while before I can wear it, though! Is anyone else looking forward to fall, too?

Spring is slowly coming to St. Louis (albeit verrrrry sloooowly), and I'm finally able to wear dresses without tights some days! I've been doing this preemptively for a while because I'm tired of trying to coordinate tights with my outfits, but it feels good to not be shivering anymore! I got this dress a week or so ago along with another one at one of my favorite local vintage haunts. I've considered buying it since the first time I saw it in the shop about a year ago, and I was always amazed that it was still there when I went in.  I finally took that as a sign and broke down and bought it. I'm glad I did because I've worn it at least three times since then! My super awesome beaded purse that I call my 'mermaid purse' is probably my favorite thing in my closet right now.  I like it so much that I almost don't want to take it out of my closet because I don't want it to get ruined! It's in perfect condition! But I always break down and use it because it's just too darn pretty to leave sitting in its hiding place.
Anyway, not much else has been happening around these parts. I lost my mind yesterday and decided to paint my entire room on a whim, so now my back and neck are really sore, but I'm glad I did it! It's now a very bright minty green color.  Hopefully there will be pictures to come, but for some reason, I never really like how pictures in/of my room turn out, so we will see! Other than that, I've just been crafting it up, and working on trying to get stuff back into the etsy shop! It's been a while, but I've got a lot of ideas now! I wish my hands could work as fast as my brain!

Waiting for Godot

Welp, it's been a while since I've posted an outfit. I wasn't meaning to wait this long, but I got busy and lazy! I'm going to try to do better!
I took pictures of my outfit in my sister's new apartment while waiting for her couch to be delivered. I didn't get very good pictures of it in these photos, but it's the most beautiful 1920s craftsman style apartment with distressed wood floors and fireplace that takes up an entire wall. One day I will take better pics!
This is one of my better casual outfits, but I don't wear it too often because I have a problem with wearing all my fanciest things all at once every single day. I don't ever mean to overdress by that much, but somehow it just spirals out of control every morning when I'm trying to decide what to wear and pretty soon I'm covered in glitter and shiny things. Anyway, back to the outfit! I think my skirt was possibly an old square dancing skirt. The tag said it was part of some costume, but it looks like a square dance skirt to me! It's perfect for twirling, and I love the shape and length. I wish I had one in every color! The sweater is a nice light cotton, and probably better suited for the fall, but I couldn't resist!
Lately I've been doing a lot of crafting, reading, and hanging around.  I've got big plans for my crafts, but we'll see if they actually come to fruition.  I'm really bad about starting things and then burning out part way through! I'm hoping that I'll get some of my plans finished so I can put them up on etsy!
Also, as of late, I've developed a ping pong obsession.  My friend has a table down in his basement, so I've been playing at least a few times a week. A couple of weeks ago, Erin and I went to a ping pong tournament, and although we didn't play, we won best costume for her cousin's roomate's team! The goal is to practice all year long, then enter the tournament and destroy everyone.

I saw this dress hanging up at My Vintage Addiction this past week, and I fell in love immediately! The print reminds me of one of my favorite movies, In the Mood for Love, so naturally I had to grab it up when I saw it.  I decided to pair it with everything that's sparkly, since it's the season for that!
Speaking of sparkle, Anthropologie seems to know everything I love this season because there is an abundance of shiny things that I just can't pass up.  I'm particularly fond of all the glittery hair things, and I think I went there at least three days in a row to go back for something that I didn't pick up the previous day.  My sparkly headband was the result of one of those trips.  I feel good about all the glitter in my life now!
P.S. We took these pictures in the Soulard area in St. Louis, and I'm pretty sure there is a wolf down there! It didn't look like any dog I'd ever seen, and it was super timid.  I don't know why anyone would be keeping a wolf in downtown St. Louis! Perhaps I am way off base, but I don't know what else it would be! It's too big to be a coyote.  I captured a picture of it! See for yourself!

Birthday Cake

Yesterday was my birthday! My sister took me out, and we spent most of the day eating and shopping, because those are our favorite things to do.  I ate at least part of two cupcakes and a slice of actual birthday cake, so . . . yeah.  Overall it was a great day!

These pictures were taken at Forest Park, which is known for the 1904 Worlds Fair.  They tore most of the buildings down long ago, but the Art Museum and the Muny are what remain.  The little gazebo in the middle of the pond was an original, too! Anyway, the park is massive (larger than Central Park) and has a lot of great places to take pictures, so we thought we'd meander down there to capture a few of today's outfit.

Speaking of which, isn't it great when you rediscover clothing you haven't worn in a while.  Not that I really rediscovered this dress, because it's been shuffling between my closet and storage every season for the past few years, but I just haven't found much use for as of late.  I was considering getting rid of it because I haven't really worn it in a year or two, but I decided to keep it just in case!  I finally found something I can wear it with again! The blouse is one of my favorites!

Impure Hair

Maybe it's my proximity to the Mason-Dixon line, but every single morning when I wake up, my only real goal for the day is to have massive hair. Today was the day! A combination of rag curls and two-day-old backcombed hair helped in achieving my morning time dreams.  If only my hair could be this big every day! I've considered getting a perm, because going through the hassle of trying to get any volume or body in my hair is a super annoying, and it usually only lasts for about two hours before it all falls flat again.  I've had previous experience with perms in grade school, however,  and my inner third grade self screams in terror every time I contemplate one because it was such an abomination to the eyes.  My hair dresser permed my bangs! My bangs! So I guess I'll just invest in a teasing come and some hairspray for now.

My weekend was fairly eventful.  My friend, Katie, got married on Saturday, so I went to her wedding with some of my friends who I've known since high school (I've actually known Katie since Kindergarten), which was really fun!  Although I'm still friends with my high school friends, it's rare that we are all in the same place together at one time, so it great that we could all be there! Afterwards, I went to see my friend's band! I hope everyone else had a good weekend, too!
