Fuzzy Sweater Dreams

Sweater: Forever21
Skirt: vintage

I hope everyone had a great holiday! I'm not sure I'm ready for it to be over because there are still so many sparkly dresses I wanted to wear to fancy holiday parties! I guess there's always next year!

A few months ago, I rewatched The Girl on a Motorcycle and became slightly obsessed with finding a fuzzy vintage sweater similar to the one Marianne Faithfull wore.  I searched forever and had no luck finding one until I went to Forever21. I try not to shop there anymore, but I needed a pair of tights, so I decided to make the exception and go take a look.  As soon as I entered the store, I realized all my fuzzy sweater dreams had come true, so I came out with zero tights and two new sweaters. Anyway, this is my best attempt at The Girl on a Motorcycle outfit.

Black Cat

Blouse: vintage
Bow: vintage
Skirt: Vintage
Shoes: ASOS

I put this outfit together with Christmas in mind and I have to say it's one of my favorites right now, although it might make me look a bit like a sickly Victorian school child.  I just can't pass up a good bow!

I hope everyone has a happy holiday! I will be spending mine at a brunch buffet at a lodge on a river.  I can't wait to stuff myself with everything!

Holly Berry

Skirt: vintage
Blouse: vintage
Headband: made by me

I started this Ulyana Sergeenko inspired headband a few weeks ago and I finally finished it in time for Christmas! I've made another attempt at making one of these headbands, but it was more like a fascinator.  This is actually attached to a headband, so it will be easier to wear, although I'm not too sure I'll wear it out of the house much.  It's a tad dramatic and I already get enough side-eyes as it is. I was hoping maybe I could wear it to a Christmas party, but since Christmas is 3 days away, I doubt I will get the chance.  I'll just have to twirl around with it in my bedroom!

My velvet skirt was something I've been eyeing at one of my favorite vintage stores for like 2 years. I've tried it on several times, but it was originally $75, which is a little steep for my librarian budget. Sadly, the store is going out of business, so I got it for 40% off.  I'm pretty happy with it and I've worn it a few times already!

The Curtain Falls

Dress: Vintage

This dress reminds me of the curtain dress from Gone With the Wind. The sleeves are pretty fantastic and the color is great.  Unfortunately, I haven't worn it that much since I got it, but I think it's a good go-to dress for a party or some other special event.

Limoncello

Top: vintage
Skirt: vintage
Belt: vintage

I found this beaded top a while ago at a second hand store for $10.  I was really excited when I found it because usually these types of vintage tops are quite a bit more expensive, so I feel like I got a steal. Hooray!

Summer is soon coming to an end and first the first time in my life, I think I'll be sad to put my summer clothes away in my closet and bring the fall ones out. Normally, fall/winter clothes are my favorite to wear, but lately I've collected so many great summer pieces that I'll be sad to see them go. Luckily it's only for a little while!

Headband: Made by me

Made a silly flower headband with remaining millinery flowers I used for other projects. That's all!

Glinda

Shirt: Vintage
Skirt: Chicwish, altered by me
Belt: Shopruche (?)
Flower Crown: Vintage

Have you ever seen a movie so many times that it's permanently in your subconscious? There are quite a few movies like that for me (mostly involving childhood 80s movies), but one of them is The Wizard of Oz.  I was completely obsessed with that movie from the ages of 3-7 and I watched it nearly every day, so it's not too much of a surprise when I find myself inadvertently dressing like characters in the movie.  I realized after I put this outfit together that it is reminiscent of Glinda the Good Witch's costume, which still happens to be a dream dress of mine to this day. I guess it's the whole gauziness of the shirt and top? Either way, I'm digging it!

The radio in the last picture was a gift from my boyfriend that I'm super excited about! I've been looking at that for a while because other than my phone, I didn't have anything to play music on, and i had nothing to hook my phone up to. Luckily, this has solved both of those problems! Also, it's mint green, which is one of my favorite colors.  He always seems to know what I like!

Headgear

                                                                Vintage Headband

I've been harboring an obsession with hair accessories for a while now. Any excuse to stick something in my hair and I'll take it (or at least think about it).  I've been collecting/making hair pieces for the past couple of years, but I don't wear them out a lot because of the effort in finding something to wear them with and the stares I know I'll get if I wear them. I decided to take a few  pictures of some of my favorite ones and share them on the blog.  Some of them I made and some of them I bought.  Perhaps one day I'll take more pictures of the others I have, but here are just a few ones for now!

Flower crown made by me

Ulyana Sergeenko inspired headband made by me - I was obsessed with those berry headbands when they came out, but I knew there was no way I was ever going to get my hands on one, so I DIYed it. I think it turned out pretty well. I was going to try to make more after I finished this one, but then I ran out of steam.

Vintage pink ostrich hat - an estate sale find I got a couple of weeks ago and previously in the possession of a very fancy lady.  I'm excited to for winter to come so I can wear it!
