Summer Now

Dress: Vintage
Shoes: ASOS

I don't know if there is much else in this world that is more terrifying to me that nature.  Sometimes I get ideas about being outside and how it would be fun to sit around in the sun for hours, but the inevitable reality check comes as soon as the first insect tries to fly into my ear.  These pictures took a long time to take because things kept flying into my hair and eyes, making me scream while running in place and covering my ears. Rude! I had the good fortune of no one being around to see my shame, although I'm sure I was loud enough to be heard by some passer-by at the top of the hill.  I wish insects looked less like aliens and more like tiny, cuddly bears.
Anyway, this dress was originally one of those long Hawaiian muumuus that I cut off to make it a little more socially acceptable to wear out it public (unfortunately, my tailoring skills are horrendous and I cut off more than I was planning).  It's the kind of thing that's so tacky, it becomes beautiful.  It was love at first sight, but I refrained from buying it the first time around because I figured that I might regret it later. I've always been under the impression that muumuus were about on par with fanny packs, hence my apprehension.  After a week of thinking about it, I decided to just go ahead and buy it, and not care if I'd be sneered at on the street, or if I look like some unfortunate couch. Much to my surprise, this dress has been the one thing in my closet that I've gotten the most compliments on.  In fact, I think it might be the one thing I've gotten the most compliments on ever!
