This Heat

Dress:Vintage
Shoes: Forever21, color diy by me
Flower crown: diy

I found this dress towards the beginning of the year, lonely and hiding between rows of other unloved dresses. I say unloved because they were all those vintage floor length prom dresses that people tend to find hideous.  This one was floor length, too, but as soon as I saw it, I fell in love and knew it had to be mine.  I decided to shorten the hem of it to make it less a sea of turquoise, and I think it turned out pretty well.  Unfortunately, I haven't been able to wear it too much this summer because the fabric is so heavy and the weather has been so hot, but I foresee romping around in this for many more years to come!

As a side note, can I just whine for a minute about how annoying it is trying to find a full time job? I've been looking, and I can say that the prospects aren't much better than they were six months ago. It doesn't help that a lot of these jobs are on a coast, and while I would love to move to a coast, I have no idea how I would be able to afford it!  I feel like I can hardly afford to live in St. Louis sometimes!  I've checked the salaries for some of these jobs posted, and they really don't pay much more than what I'm making here, which leaves me wondering how anyone can afford to live on a coast and be a librarian! Perhaps one day I will figure it out, but for now it looks like I'm stuck in good old St. Louis for a while, which wouldn't be bad but for that lack of jobs! Anyway, I'll stop my whining!

  2. I can sympathize with job hunting woes. I'm having just as much trouble as you, it sounds like. At least you are keeping yourself busy with gorgeous colored dresses that you're saving from a life of disuse!
