Project of the Week!

This week was a rough one for me and baby.  I wasn't up to going out or doing much physical activity, but I was able to start on a project I've been wanting to do forever.  I'm making little card wallets for all those store discount cards everyone has these days. Of course, you could also use them for credit cards and some cash.  They'll appear in the Etsy shop as soon as I have them perfected, and I'm giving my practice ones away as thank you favors at my baby shower.  (sorry Katie - just pretend to be surprised!!)
Speaking of the shower, am I the only one who feels weird about having a shower thrown for them?  I know my friends want to give me a shower, and I'm so thankful to them (I have the best friends!), but I feel so awkward about it!  Inviting a bunch of people over so they can buy you things?  I'm not good at being the center of attention, and I just feel like such a mooch!  Anyway, even though I'm nervous, I'm also totally excited about it!  I can't wait to see everyone and eat yummy food and look at adorable baby things!
I also splurged this week and made myself a mother's necklace.  I've been on a strict budget since the beginning of the year, so this was really special!  I ordered it from Dogeared and included charms that mean a lot to me.  It arrived yesterday, and it's definitely my favorite piece of jewelry!  I never want to take it off.  :)

My necklace!  The charms are a baby carriage, an 'm' for my boyfriend Matt and for baby Margaret, a tag with 'love' inscribed on it, the aquamarine is my birthstone, an oak leaf because mighty oaks grow from small seeds and I wish for my daughter to grow tall and strong, and the paw print heart is for our pets...my other children!

Three finished wallets!  I'm using cotton fabric so they're all vegan, too.
My first three.  I love these little babies because all you need are two fat quarters, which should run about $2.50 apiece for designer fabric.  The two fat quarters will make three wallets, so you get three wallets for about $5.00!  Of course, thread and snaps are extra but I already had those so I'm not counting them.  Any way you cut it, this is such an inexpensive and cute project!

Part of my fabric stash.

I think this is my favorite - hedgehogs!  I got it with Katie and Erin in mind.  :)

Work in progress!
Wally, my special helper.

I hope you all have a relaxing weekend and a good week!

P.S.  Dogeared doesn't know I exist, so they definitely didn't pay me for the mention!  Just in case you were wondering.  :O)
